Donate to Wikipedia and They Will Be Grateful to You

donating to wikipedia
Following is Wikipedia's acknowledgment of my donation. It's been the third year that I actively and positively respond to their call. Wikipedia is a good place to start for those who seek information. Although in almost all schools and universities, Wiki cannot be the source of someones paper, it is still a great help to start with it.

It's still not late for you. Be part of Wikipedia's success too! Just click those links below. Any amount will do, no worries 1 million of $1 will total to a million dollars, right? Just share a bit and t's enough.

Dear _____,

Thank you for your gift of USD __. __ to the Wikimedia Foundation, received on November 23, 2010. I’m very grateful for your support.

Your donation celebrates everything Wikipedia and its sister sites stand for: the power of information to help people live better lives, and the importance of sharing, freedom, learning and discovery. Thank you so much for helping to keep these projects freely available for their nearly 400 million monthly readers around the world.

Your money supports technology and people. The Wikimedia Foundation develops and improves the technology behind Wikipedia and nine other projects, and sustains the infrastructure that keeps them up and running. The Foundation has a staff of about fifty, which provides technical, administrative, legal and outreach support for the global community of volunteers who write and edit Wikipedia.

Many people love Wikipedia, but a surprising number don't know it's run by a non-profit. Please help us spread the word by telling a few of your friends.

And again, thank you for supporting free knowledge.

Sincerely Yours,

Sue Gardner
Executive Director

Let's Help Wikipedia -Wikimedia's Direct Email to YoursTruly

Dear rojen,

As someone who’s given to the Wikimedia Foundation in the past, you know that our incredible community is funded by individual donations from people across the globe. We'll never run ads, collect profits, or compromise our independence.

We’re counting on you to keep it that way. You make it possible for Wikipedia and its sister sites to stay free of charge and free to be improved by anyone, anywhere.

For our past annual fundraisers, we've relied entirely on website banners, but we're trying something new this year. We’re turning to those who have donated in the past and asking you to lead the way in 2010.

For the first time ever, I’m writing to ask if you can help get our efforts off to a strong start.

Can you make a donation of $50 or more to fund the work of the Wikimedia Foundation?

If you've already given this year, thank you very much for your support and please share your feedback on our campaign.

Below is an updated version of our annual fundraising message that went up this week. We’re going to be tweaking and improving this as we go along, but I want to know what you think.

In keeping with the open spirit of our community, we’re tracking all of our fundraising efforts online. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the message below and any other ways you think we can reach our goal to keep Wikipedia and its sister sites strong and independent.

Thanks,

Jimmy Wales

---

Here’s what our website fundraising banners say:

Please read: A personal appeal from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales

And here’s our new fundraising message:

I got a lot of funny looks ten years ago when I started talking to people about Wikipedia.

Let’s just say some people were skeptical of the notion that volunteers from all across the world could come together to create a remarkable pool of human knowledge – all for the simple purpose of sharing.

No ads. No agenda. No strings attached.

A decade after its founding, nearly 400 million people use Wikipedia and its sister sites every month - almost a third of the Internet-connected world.

It is the 5th most popular website in the world - but Wikipedia isn’t anything like a commercial website. It is a community creation, written by volunteers making one entry at a time. You are part of our community. And I’m writing today to ask you to protect and sustain Wikipedia.

Together, we can keep it free of charge and free of advertising. We can keep it open – you can use the information in Wikipedia any way you want. We can keep it growing – spreading knowledge everywhere, and inviting participation from everyone.

Each year at this time, we reach out to ask you and others all across the Wikimedia community to help sustain our joint enterprise with a modest donation of $20, $35, $50 or more.

If you value Wikipedia as a source of information – and a source of inspiration – I hope you’ll choose to act right now.

All the best,

Jimmy Wales

Founder, Wikipedia

P.S. -- Wikipedia is about the power of people like us to do extraordinary things. People like us write Wikipedia, one word at a time. People like us fund it, one donation at a time. It's proof of our collective potential to change the world.

---

If you have any thoughts on the letter, please send me an email.

Make a donation to give our 2010 fundraising campaign a strong start.

Website Traffic Boosters: Entrecard, Trafficg Traffic Exchange and Naturally Google Search Engine!

Boosting the webbiestuffs traffic to be in a very good position after a couple of weeks requires not only effort but also in-depth understanding and analysis. It was a good experiment for web/internet/computer-niched blog: to see a traffic rank of one million++th rank go up below 400Kth rank after 3 weeks! What helped me? It was not easy nor simple of course! However, it gives a great deal of sense of achievement and at the same time more knowledge about blogging.
http://www.webbiesttuffs.com traffic overview by Alexa as of 13 November 2010
First, let make this clear first: Website Traffic IS NOT EVERYTHING! Neither is Google Page Rank!

As repeated many times, what your purpose and priority for your website depends entirely upon you. Since it happened that this blog has achieved in oneof its goals, on having a better web traffic rank, maybe other would like to know how it was done too. Thus, this article shares this experiences.

A. Entrecard
To help this website/blog achieved its better traffic goal, various actions were done (and still being practised at the moment). One of them is to use the services of Entrecard. Entrecard offers free services to use its resources in exchanging traffic. This allowed me on the average to get around 100-175 visits per day.This is the good thing.

Entrecard is NOT all good though. What I have noticed to be the disadvantage of utilising entrecard these days is mostly on the issue of the quality of the traffic one gets: The person stays too short in your site and the visitor does not open any other pages at all! Bounce rate is just too high and too short stay for each visitor.

One very bad thing also about Entrecard these days is the fact that somepeople have five or more accounts! This means that the traffic you get back is 5 times from the same IP: 5 lowquality traffic. On the side, Entrecard still help theblog get more audience and improve the blog's "numbers".
These widgets from www.webbiestuffs.comarenot for display alone. They serve very good traffic analysis and at the same time can boost one's traffic if utilized wisely.

Like Entrecard, TrafficG is another tool in promoting one's website traffic. Entrecard and TrafficG utlize different styles for their users but the end result is the same: easy traffic exchange at lesser time possible and to promote the web site to other users. The same pitfalls as Entrecard: lower quality traffic.

C. Google Search Engine
Onegood waw of having a better website traffic is through Google search results. As of 9AM in my local time (Amsterdam), I had 13 hits from Google. They termed it "organic" as no one actually promoted to this visitor to visit here. These are the better quality traffic but not all the time: if the searcher is interested in your very article, that visitor will leave your site immediately also and it is another case of bounced traffic. The good thing is, these visitors are usually the ones who click your related posts and paid ads!

These is thehisat analysis of visitors from Search Engine(s)

Staying in the Blogsphere since 2007, I still have alot to learn. Having all these observations and knowledge in your Webbielady's head does not hurt though.So it's good.

The end point is: As long as you are happy,just go for it! No trafficor more traffic, no PR or higher PR, it actually does not affect your satisfaction if you're not into it. Happy Blogging!

Old to New Blog Design and Better Traffic Achieved

After having the "old" layout and design, the WebbieStuff blog has finally changed its image. With the super improved blogger designing tool, the options were too wide for all combination of this blog's new look. It took so much time before your Webbielady was complete with the whole change. This is the downside of having so many choices that choosing has became a task as well. All the same, it was very difficult to achive a better looking blog and to have it does not lose its theme and impact. All the same, the final output, having it in green, is not really satisfying. Maybe soon it will have another look again.

As previously posted, WebbieStuff was on a better traffic quest. In this regard, I would like to thank those who have helped me with my blog traffic: my blog visitors and friends. The Webbiestuff was able to achieve that goal: the traffic rank that your Webbielady has for this blog is far way better than 1 millionth rank. In fact, it is strongly expected that by Monday, week 46, this blog will have a traffic rank of better than 500, 000th place per Alexa.

Webbielady's Traffic Rationale
Indeed, if you can see here, many commented that traffic is only secondary (or even irrelevant) to the idea of blogging. Most noted that they don't care at all. Indeed that is true! We all have different reasons and different goals for our respective blogs.

Having mentioned that we have relative wants and goals, and from your Webbielady who has at least 20 different blogs of various goals, I have to tall that for THIS particular WebbieStuff blog, having a good deal of traffic is one of its main goals.

Thus, whaever your goal in blogging is, just be happy, continue blogging and let's all create a happy and fun virtual community.

Better Alexa Traffic Rank: Goal Week 43. Help....!

alexa traffic ranking, website traffic promotionI don't want this website or blog to just die or be "dead". However, at this very moment, my Alexa traffic meter says it is over a millionth rank and that is really lousy! Thus, my aim this weekend is to promote this blog to go down at least to be in 6 digits rank rather than 7. I do hope I can achieve this goal I set. It is Friday night and I still have more than 24 hours to work on it before it is Sunday (week 43). Lucky thing Alexa really updates its site traffic meter almost daily (or more often than that) as I can really see changes.

What's a traffic for me?

Being in a blog with a niche like this one, about computers and internet, website traffic is very important. I feel like my blog is dead if my rank is too far behind. Thus, I am working on it. Not to mention my Google or Adsense CPC would be more affordable or CPM would improve.

6 digit or better alexa traffic rank

If you would like to help me, please click 2 titles or any internallink from here or of any post I did and that is a very BIG help already. Just let me know if you want me to return the favor. Happy weekend fellas!

3D Printer, What's Your View? Soon We Can Print Our Own Ferrari!

3D printer and consLast week, I was watching a lot of videos relating to the 3D printers. It makes print-outs in three dimensions as the name suggests. But more than a 3D, I can tell it can be better called computer-sculpture. Anyway, it seems that sculpting would be soon extinct! Why? Because Computer Assisted Designs are there and now they can be reproduced via these 3D printers as well. Individuals can have these printers too and the products are quite useful. My only worry is, would'nt this be like a waste of resources? I mean, if we have it, we are encouraged to simply print the figure we like and just throw what we think is "old" or "out-of-fashion". As usual, heavy consumerism and so much use of resources for no good reason.What do you think?

The following video shows the printing of a statue, scaled down to a printable/desired size.

Taking acomment from one of the videos, "One day you could buy a 3D printer that could print you a Porsche car, with steel rims and spoiler... ..and probably a girl along.."--- wouldn't that be great?

Anothercomment for the first video above says: "The Model was 180mm tall (7 Inches) and it took about 12 hours to print, I find it amusing how we can accept a sculptor taking weeks to sculpt something like this, but as soon as a machine is involved we expect it to be instant. :)"...

However, if we have this printer at our disposal, a lot of things can indeed be produced at our own convenience. Life is getting more andmore convenient and Ido hope our resources can sustain it!

Cool Animation About Internet

People are so talented. This animation is cool! Bad thing there is no ending or conclusion for the video. Maybe I will be able to locate it tomorrow. Cool stuff from talented people. Kudos to the creator of this and submitted this to share to us. In case you watched this and you're able to locate the continuation of the animation, could you please share the exact url where you got it? Thanks in advance and do enjoy watching.... and grinning...or laughing. Or even remembering someone you know who likes to play tricks to others just like the guy in the animated video.... pretending to be a fat lady. :)

Dot: World's (Guinnes Book Certified) Smallest Stop Motion Character, the Making

Shooting only four seconds of footage per day, the team worked painstakingly to produce the movie. Rather than create a model for the lead character which could be manipulated (a la Wallace and Gromit), the team instead created 50 versions of her. Each Dot model started life as a sketch on paper which was then turned into a 3D render before being printed on a 3D printer. The models were then attached to a metal rod before being painted – the artist involved in painting basically couldn’t speak or breath as he applied his brushstrokes to the 9mm high models of Dot.-JBC@ Nokia Conversations
the making of Dot, the worlds smallest cartoon character, smaller than thumbelina

As pormised in my previous post entitled, Dot: The World's Smallest Cartoon... Simply Amazing!, I am sharing also how this Certified by the Book of Guinness World Records as the smallest stop motion ever was created.

I was so amazed by this whole story that I tried tracing the story behind it. Overall, I find the following simply amazing:
1. The whole effort (the resources, efforts, the team working, etc...etc...);
2. The creators could complete only 4 seconds (of the motion picture) average a day???? Wow!
3. The work was a success!
4. Dot's here! She struggling for survival but she's so cute!

I don't care about the commercial or marketing impact or concept behind this thing/character but the idea and the success of the creation is just something very interesting. Technology is really something!

Here we are, see the story of Dot's making..

Dot: The World's Smallest Cartoon... Simply Amazing!

Dot smallest cartoon in the world, Dot the cartoon characterTechnology's something! Seeing its works and how it makes life easier, more consumed, extra luxurious and at the same time making things that were almost impossible to happen to actually happen gives pleasure to the mind. I was actually so intrigued by this thing that at this level I already know what will be my next post! The creation of this very ambitious (and yet successful) project on having a 9millimeter character make people look at her repeatedly struggling in her microscopic life. Lovely. Tomorrow I will also share how it was created. For sure, it was NOT easy.

It's been quite sometime and now that I am back, and hopefully on a regular basis, I would like to share with you, my fellow bloggers and web surfers, the smallest cartoon ever! I was amazed the first time I saw and after realizing how it was and what size it has. At first I thought it was an eye test but then I saw that it's a cartoon! It was so cool! Talented animator! Or whatever you call the person who did it. Kudos!

Now, enjoy watching! It's so clear, great magnification!

I was intrigued by this amazing magnified cartoon that I allowed my curiosity to take over me. I searched about it and I found not so many article so far. One good info though was at NJuice telling that:
Professor Fletcher's invention of the CellScope, which is a Nokia device with a microscope attachment, was the inspiration for a teeny-tiny film created by Sumo Science at Aardman. It stars a 9mm girl called Dot as she struggles through a microscopic world. All the minuscule detail was shot using CellScope technology and a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics

New Blogger Design Tutorial Using New Blogger Tools: Part IV of Starting Blogging 101 Series

new blogger templates tutorial and techniques
In my post here, I mentioned about the new looks of some or most of my themed blogs. How I did it? It was actually quick and fun. It was all made possible by Blooger itself as it offered all the tools and design and all I did was choose from all the available resources that Blogger offered to its users. It's very easy and quick to use. The following video was released by Blogger to summarize it all. See also other articles about blogging, the links and titles are provided at the bottom of this article.

Do you want to customize your blog too to suit your theme or your personality? Now that's more possible than ever! I would like to share another video on the customizing itself as I had my own tutorial too long and when I uploaded it in youtube, it was deleted :( as it was more than the 10-minute limit so I have to reedit it before sharing ( I don'tknow when I will have time) but for the meantime, this video here don't hurt.

Good luck with your blog (Blogger) customization. I love how many options you can have from this new (latest) blogger resources:

New Blogger Design Tutorial Using Gmail Account: Part III of Starting Blogging 101 Series

tutorial article and video on creating a free or gratis blog in blogger platform and customizing This is the third part of the series on creating a gratis or free blog out of scratch. This is basically for beginners but for those who want to learn more, even if they/you are not a beginner anymore,maybe you would try to see and advice what we can improve here. That is highly appreciated. This video focuses on creating the blog using Gmail account that has been created in previous series and customizing the template,layout, backgrounds,size,etc.of this new blog. I suggest you read everything first then watch the video in full screen.

From the previous article, you just created your Google account through Gmail. For those who have existing Google accounts already, this would be your starting point: accessing Blogger and creating a blog using your existing Gmail or Google account. There is also a video with this article (just above this paragraph) on how to do this step but before playing the video, take note of the following:
  • 1. You need your Google account/Gmail username and password;
  • 2. Upon logging in to Blogger (www.blogger.com), another language might be there, simply change the language to your preferred one as shown in the video;
  • 3. When you are inside, logged in your account, and at the creation of the Blog, you may opt to “Check Availability” of the “Blog Address url” before clicking the “Continue” button. It’s up to you if you want to check the availability or not. Blogger will also tell you if the url is not anymore available and will "force" you to change that url before you can go on;
  • 4. You can also see which stage of blog creation you are in: in the Blogger page, inside your account, 3 steps are indicated to guide you: (1) Create account; (2) Name Blog; and (3) Choose Template. All these 3 are performed and shown in the following video. The templates available in this video are the basic and simple ones. Later on this tutorial, we will be customizing and beautifying your templates and layout, just a little bit of patience and we will get there
  • 5. Take note that the first article in the dummy blog at http://learning-blog-101.blogspot.com, I created it and simply copied it and pasted in the post area of the blog. I also advice the same thing for you, to write offline and save it in your hard drive so that in case Blogger crashes or your connection and/or computer crashes, you don’t lose your article. (I apologize for some Italian texts and instructions popping out from time to time; this laptop is Italian and I speak the language too so I don’t bother changing everything to English)
  • 6. The video already shows how to add an image in the post and how to create a “tag” or “label” (in the video the tag is “Blogging”) for the posts. You can create more tags if you like. Blogger will let you know when you exceeded maximum tags.
  • 7. You may opt to ”Preview” your post before publishing but personally, I rarely do that as I can always return and edit anything anyway.
Now you may watch the video. This tutorial has a few more series to post and your blog is ready and beautiful. Goodluck and enjoy blogging!

How to Create a Free or Gratis Blog? Opening a Blog Through Gmail/Google Account: Part II of Starting Blogging 101 Series

tutorial series on blogcreation and customization using free gratis blog platform bloggerBefore you can have that blog readily set and available online, you need to do a few things. Since we agreed that we do this tutorial or we make your blog with Google by using a Google account, you would need a Google account then. If you already have one, like a Gmail account or any other Google related service account, you may use that same username and password when using the Blogger blog platform. Or, at your option, you may open a Google account separately only for your blog(s). So here we are, we will open an account in Google to be used and this will serve as a demonstration here on how to have a blog and how to make them beautiful later on. Yes, customization will be covered in this step-by-step tutorial on how to create and customize a blog for free.

I advice you to read the following and see the video FULLSCREEN to fully see the details.
  • 1. Let us open an account through Gmail.com. Gmail or Googlemail is owned by Google and if we have Gmail account, we can directly access Blogger (www.blogger.com, the website where we can create free or gratis blogs) from there just by using a Gmail account, using exactly the same username and password.
  • 2. After we have an account, let us start creating a blog from there (this is partly covered in the following video but a detailed one is posted together with the next article). Of course as I do this step-by-step tutorial, we use a dummy account and all the data here are for tutorial purposes only. Customize your own blog as much as you want as you go along and as you learn more.
  • 3. See the attached video on how to do it exactly. I suggest read this whole article first and view the video in full screen as it is difficult to see if not in full screen mode. Good luck!

Now that you have a Google account, the following video in the following post shows how to create a blog using the Google Blooger’s platform. The next post and video will dwell on the details. We will start from the basic here and we will go on smoothly to the customization of blog from layout to templates to sizing, etecetera.

It is good to take note though that we better make a sample post in order for us to see how these posts appear really in our blogs. I suggest first writing your draft blog post offline and carefully editing it (by utilizing spelling checker and the likes) before putting it in your blog and to finally publish such article. This can save you time and trouble and if you save your article in your hard drive, it will be still available even if you accidentally delete this post in your blog later on or even if Blogger or your computer crashes in the middle of posting such article.

Introduction: How to Create Free or Gratis Blog? Part I to Starting Blogging 101 Series

complete tutorial on creating or to create free or gratis blogBlogging has a lot of good sides. To be fair enough, I have to warn you that it has bad sides also. I have been blogging since 2007 and I never get tired of it. The only good thing is, I have matured in this thing that now I learned how to set my priorities and enjoy life out of the virtual world. What I mean to say here is that, blogging still pulls me to sit, especially that I have more than 15 blogs to take care of but I know now when to stop, go out for a walk or do my short indoor exercises.

Before I lay down here the complete process on how to blog, I have to give the advantages that blogging has given me:
  • 1. It made me see others' views and helped me having a wide/broad mind;
  • 2. It relaxes me after work;
  • 3. It makes me practice writing, thus improving it;
  • 4. I socialize (virtually) with tons of other bloggers from all over the world;
  • 5. I learn a lot of things along the way (html coding, laying out of page, creativity, etc);
  • 6. Not me personally but for teens, blogging can be a good diversion to teenagers, instead of hanging out at night, smoking, drinking, etcetera, why not blog?;
  • 7. I enjoy it as I love publishing my thoughts and sharing them to/with others; and
  • 8. I earn from it (not millions but it gives a sense of achievement by doing the thing I love and at the same time get financial returns for it…)
and what are the disadvantages that I see from blogging? It is:
  • 1. Addicting. You may find yourself hurrying online in wee hours and abandon your “real priorities”;
  • 2. Time consuming. Before you know it the night is over;
  • 3. Causes you to be virtual being; you have your blog(s) and you're contented, thus you think that outside world is not needed (obviously this is very unhealthy attitude);
  • 4. Can be frustrating especially when your efforts seem to not bearing fruits...but I say, be patient. You can feel this when you don’t get enough traffic in your blog, not as much comment as you want or not as enough earnings as you planned;
  • 5. Makes you an extremely introvert being. Yes, you can do all electronically but it diminishes your real power to communicate personally as you interact less and less with other people. What I say, just make it a hobby and NOT a living;
  • 6. Can be worthless. Why are you doing it for anyway? You must have strong reason and when you are feeling frustrated, get back to your basic motives and you will be inspired again;
  • 7. Can cause you a lot of trouble: late for school or work, sleepiness, tiredness, attitude problems, waste of time, frustrations, and if you are not careful, lawsuits!
I realized the both sides of the coin but my decision was, and still is, pro blogging. I still blog and I have at least 15 blogs that I try to maintain posting to them at least one (some can have 10-15 posts in a month). Why is that? You will understand later as I give this whole series on blogging and how to create a blog from the very beginning.

This is only the first part of the series. The next post, series 2 will be available in a day or couple of days. Just watch out. Subscribe to my feed if you don't want to miss it...or better, subscribe through email or bookmark this blog. The series on how to blog will be walking you through from opening a blog through Google to laying-out designs and backgrounds to making a few cents through Google Adsense. Screenshots and or videos will be utilized to properly share with you how it is done. Yes, we use free Google’s blog platform called Blogger and as I said you can have it for free; it is gratis! Unless you want a private domain, which costs $10 from Blogger, you have nothing to worry of. Starting a blog costs your time and effort but no money so far. I myself, with more than 10 blogs, pay only for two of them (at my own choice) and that is very affordable.

It's up to you to weigh the pros and cons now and decide whether you'd blog or not. Or at least give it a try anyway and see how it's going to.

Updated Blogs and New Look for Most of Them: How to Customize Layout and Templates in Blogger

blog update caricature and imageIn 36 hours I made big changes in 4 of my many blogs (Ican’t count how many they are as ofnow,I willpost about them in the future). I fixed their layouts and I was able to write at least 5 articles in some of my many blogs and save at least 10 of schedule posts in the future. I am glad for this update because my blogs are quite abandoned now considering I don’t have the luxury of time to spend with them. I do love blogging, writing my ideas, putting them online for the record and sometime in the future take a peek back and see “how or what it was” on a certain period in the past. Lovely right?

Below are the screenshots of my updated blogs. I did them very quickly and the great news is that blogger offers this possibility now. I am very thankful! So how did I customize all these blogs with these changes? How I suit them with their respective themes and/or with my taste and personality? I will explain also here (next post) the possibility of various layouts, templates, backgrounds and customization tips I did for my blogs. I will be sharing screenshots and instructions for everyone. For now, I am happy sharing with you the results on my own blogs.

100K Page Hits, Website Traffic and Bounce Rates

After having ignored this blog for days (weeks or even months), I was able to check(finally)it today and at least look at its health. It's having a real bad health indeed and this is not agood indication of what and how this blog should be. On the other hand, however, it's reaching it's 100 thousandth page view, I think before midnight this 18th of March. If I should have given more attention to my blogging, I could have given agood deal of fun stuff about it with my many blogging buddies around whether creating a contest or celebrating the "milestone" that this blog has reached so far (not that far of course.

100K Page Hits, Website Traffic and Bounce Rates article
Screenshot of my blog with 99,770 page views while it has 70,700 visits! Very high bounce rate!

Looking at the 99 thousandth 900 something page hits or page views in this blog is not that all good news. I have realized that my bump rate is really very very high! What does this mean? This means a lot of things to me and all "not good things", unfortunately.

Please help me reduce bounce rate, by clicking Help 1 below...

BOUNCE RATE

What doesbump rate mean? Why do I hate having a high bump rate? This actually means the following tome:

1. Rejection
2. Not interesting
3. Irrelevant
4. Nonsense
5. Lousy blog (not good layout, boring, not having a good presentation, etc)!

As defined by Wikipedia,"Bounce rate is a term used in web site traffic analysis. It essentially represents the percentage of initial visitors to a site who "bounce" away to a different site, rather than continue on to other pages within the same site." In this context, I actually generalize the bouncing rate and exit rate as one (so long as the visitor go away frommy site).

Ever since, I want to have at least 1:2 ratio of visit and page views but it's not very simple. It takes timeand thinking to do that. Exchange traffic sites do not help andI have to admit that Igot a big chunk of my traffic before from traffic exchange engines. Now, I have almost quitted but I am still a member. If given the chance, I would instead create searcheable posts that triggers a longer lasting benefit to the blog and of course, to the blog owner.

My web site traffic has been suffering badly as well. Now I only get an average of 90-130 visits a day I think and this is no good at all. The good news? I donot manually promote the blog now and these traffic are mostly from search engines. This means that at least,I saved some time.

I would not go back seriously to traffic exchange anymore unless there is one that tries to erase the bounce rate.

To conclude, I have the 10K page views, not so bad search engine results but still very high bounce rate. What do I conclude from this? My blog niche isbloggingand internet. Competition in this niche is harshso I just stay put despite this thing. I still have reader after all and that's what matters.

Advertising Gratis Online Using Google Adwords is Cool,Right?

how to get gratis or freebie adwords and advertising from googleGoogle Adwords is here again! And now, it’s not only €50,00 worth of advertising goodies and freebies but a whole good €75,00! Isn’t that amazing? It is at least $100 worth of free advertising if used! It’s like I just earned my second Google Adsense payout right after receiving the first adsense payout. I also got this similar freebie coupon last August of 2009 and that can you see my posting entitled, Free Google Adwords: Gratis Advertisement in Google. That time,I did not take the bait og Google Adwords (Netherlands) encouraging me to activate my account. I actually ignored the freebie of €50,00 six months ago. But things changed this time. I activated my account paying €10 activation fee. I will see what will become of this. I am not sure if the coupon is good enough and if I can useit. For sure I will share my experience here.

Gratis Google Adwords from Google

Why do I keep on receiving these offers? I think this must be for many reasons:

  • 1. The marketing team of Google Adwords Europe or Netherlands are active enough in encouraging people to use their products/services;
  • 2. I am so active with Google having various blogs using Google’s platform: Blogger;
  • 3. I am active with Google running their ads through Google Adsense and I already reaped the benefits here;
  • 4. I have interest in traffic-related ads and advertisement/advertising related promotions by visiting their site; and
  • 5. It can be just a normal stuff in Netherlands or can be also in whole Europe.
So here I am, I will check my account again if my payment has been credited. I was advised that activation of Google Adwords account can take from two (2) hours up to three (3) days. I am just crossing my fingers now that it would not take so long so that I can still play around with it while it is still weekend.

How to Get Free or Gratis Google Adwords

How about you guys? Have you received some freebie stuff as well? Please share so we can get some ideas from each other. I was actually hooked and now I will be surely spending bucks in favor of my Google Ads!

Wikimedia Annual Report Shared to Its Donors and to Everyone!

wikimedia logo and wikipedia annual report noticeletter
I feel so proud receiving such e-mail I copied from my mailbox. Donating a small amount when Wikipedia asked for it this year, 2010. I don't actually remember receiving a similar one when I did also donate for the same Wikipedia cause of maintaining the site without ads in 2009. This year is different. Aside from the usual acknowledgment and gratefulness note, I also received the message I quoted below. Long live Wikipedia and I do hope your goal of sharing information to the whole world is fulfilled. Take note of the mentioned links; if you are interested, I am sharing this to all of you.

Dear rojen,

Earlier this month, we completed the most successful fundraiser in the
history of Wikipedia. In total, we received more than USD 8 million from over
230,000 donors. Thank you so much for your generosity.

We're also grateful to our foundation supporters this year, including the
Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Omidyar Network, Stanton Foundation, and
the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

This was the most successful fundraiser for our international
chapter organizations, who received more than USD 1.8 million in donations.
Our chapters support Wikimedia's work on the ground in 27 countries or
regions, and are our partners in many international projects.

Today, I am very pleased to share with you our Annual Report for the
time period of July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009. During that time:

* Wikipedia and its sister projects grew by 1.6 billion words and 1.8
million media files.
* We expanded our global readership to more than 300 million visitors
per month.
* We launched initiatives to substantially improve Wikipedia's ease of use.
* We continued to invest in operations infrastructure and innovative
technologies.
* We began developing new partnerships to increase Wikipedia's quality.

For details, I encourage you to review our Annual Report, which
also includes our audited financials:

Wikimedia is a unique global movement to share the world's knowledge,
to deepen our understanding of the world and each other. Thank you
again for being part of our story.

Sue Gardner

My Google Adsense Earnings Finally Received!

Finally! My first ever earnings from Google for placing/running their ads was deposited to my bank account last week and I was able to see it or successfully receive it in my account as of Friday, 29th of January 2010. I was actually expecting the amount in my account on the 4th of February. Reaching the minimum Google Adsense pay-out amount took me a few months but it’s worth it. Patience and patience and patience! Those three things made me have the amount finally deposited into my account.

google adsense received in bank account
Eur 75,12 (appr. $105) is not a big amount but I feel a great deal of achievement for having it. What do you think? Would you feel the same if you are me? Google Adsense earnings, no matter how small it may appear, affirms my being a blogger (wink), right?

Now I am excited for my second payout but I know that it is not very soon considering my very busy work and school and sports schedule and my blogging is not as active as before but still, as I said, to successfully receive the Google Adsense payout, much patience is needed. Make use of your chance to earn from Google’s Adsense but at the same time, do not hurry to receive the money, wait for the right moment!

Wikipedia Donations Acknowledgment Receipt

As I posted before, I donated to Wikimedia Foundation in support of Wikipedia. This post comes a bit later but my point here is, whoever donated is acknowledged and donating a certain amount can be also deducted from the donator's/donors' taxes. Great, isn't it? It feels good and at the same time you help. For further information about Wiki donations,please feel free to visit this article. Dear rojen, Thank you for your gift of USD 10.00 to the Wikimedia Foundation, received on December 22, 2009.Your donation celebrates everything Wikipedia stands for: the power of information, freedom, sharing, learning and discovery.
