Determination is what it takes! Watching the film "The King's Speech" gives a mix of feelings to me as the viewer. Not only that it gives historical information, it gives us, normal individuals an idea how the life of the Royal Family is.

The film has been nominated for 12 titles for Oscar Academy Awards and has garnered numerous awards from so many awarding bodies. The list of this countless nominations and awards can be viewed below. It is expected to be more successful than the Slumdog Millionnaire.

IMDb score or film rating for The King's Speech is 8,5/10 which is very good. Slumdog Millionnaire on the other hand had a score of 8.3 out of ten while it had 10 Oscar nominations and won 8 of it!

The film is a good reminder that humans are equal: nothing's perfect but sometimes, happiness can spring out of these imperfections. It is demonstrated in the King's Speech by Lionel (the therapist) who has nothing much as a common man but his family and courage and the zeal to help Bertie (King George VI). On the other hand, David (King Edward VIII) , Bertie's older brother was the king by succession but only by leaving or ascending away from the throne he could be with his beloved lady, Wallis Simpson.

The King's Speech teaches the viewers that courage and determination are very strong weapons that no one can steal because it is within the heart.

Family is also valued in the film greatly. How the wife, Queen ELizabeth I, of King George VI and the two daughters, the current day Elizabeth II and Margaret gave him so much moral support and strength during those times when he needed it at the beginning of his reign or when he really needed them.

The only difference is, despite Colin Firth's outstanding performance as the King, the physical attributes is too far away from that of the real King George VI (image posted above). Overall, the film is a lovely story and acted by the characters in a very good way. Robert Rush's interpretation is also awesome!

The film opens as The Prince Albert, Duke of York, son of King George V, prepares to speak at the closing of the 1925 Empire Exhibition at Wembley Stadium, with his wife Elizabeth by his side. His stammering speech visibly unsettles the thousands of listeners in the audience. Albert seeks to overcome his speech impediment, seeing one therapist who suggests smoking as a throat relaxant and reading with seven sterilized marbles in his mouth, claiming the practice cured Demosthenes of his stammer. After nearly choking, he vows to cease any further attempts at rehabilitation.

Behind his back, the Duchess of York meets with Lionel Logue, an Australian speech therapist now living in London, and persuades her husband to attempt Logue's radical treatments. In their first session, Logue insists on calling the Duke "Bertie" (a pet name used by Albert's family). He insists that Albert not smoke in his presence and wagers Albert one shilling that he can make him read without a stammer. He convinces Albert to read Hamlet's "To be, or not to be" soliloquy, while listening to the overture from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro on headphones. Logue records Albert's reading, but convinced that he has stammered throughout, Albert leaves in a huff. Logue offers him the recording as a keepsake.
