This post is a tribute to the celebrity polar bear named Knut. Knut died yesterday and it's amazing to know how this bear has stirred animal issues and became a celebrity all over the world. The Knut song is also posted below.
Moreover, some cover pages and popular magazines where Knut was featured, some of them will be posted below also. Let the goodmemories of Knut be alive! The facts about Knut are in the following paragraphs.
Knut was a polar bear who was born in captivity at the Berlin Zoological Garden. Rejected by his mother at birth, he was raised by zookeepers. He was the first polar bear cub to survive past infancy at the Berlin Zoo in more than 30 years. At one time the subject of international controversy, he became a tourist attraction and commercial success. After the German tabloid newspaper Bild ran a quote from an animal rights activist that seemingly called for the death of the young cub,[neutrality is disputed] fans worldwide rallied in support of his being hand-raised by humans. Children protested outside the zoo, and e-mails and letters expressing sympathy for the cub's life were sent from around the world.
Knut became the center of a mass media phenomenon dubbed "Knutmania" that spanned the globe and spawned toys, media specials, DVDs, and books. Because of this, the cub was largely responsible for a significant increase in revenue, estimated at about five million euros, at the Berlin Zoo in 2007. Zoo attendance figures for the year increased by an estimated 30 percent, making it the most profitable year in its 163-year history.
Knut died at the age of four on the afternoon of 19 March 2011.
Below is a beautiful German song for Knut and I am sure kids like it...and I like it too.
Below is a collection of Knut's printed and programmed memories... long live the thought forand of Knut!
Knut in a PC game. The game character, inspired by Knut is very cute... just like Knut himself in real life.
Knut as a post stamp, campaigning for the conservation and preservation of nature.
"Natur weltweit bewahren", literally, "preserve the natural world"... Long live Knut (even just the memories)..
Knut is cute and simply undeniably famous! It's a pity he's passed away...:(
Enjoy the song, the surprise and the mystery. Is (s)he a ladyboy from Thailand or is (s)he just a talented double-charactered singer? Watch and decide for yourself... Is Bell Nunita or in real name, Nunita Khampriranon, a "Katoy" or not? Hmmmmm....
Bell Nunita, the singer's name, has a talent, both like a woman and a man! What is the real gender of this contestant? That is both funny and cool! She became very popular worldwide because of this! Watch her sing!
See? So what do you think? Decide with her/his info below.... Bell Nuntita's facebook (commercial) profile indicates her/his gender to be a male! This mean Bell Nunita's a transexual? I am no judge so judge for yourself. :)
Yesterday, I was at work when I heard of the news of what happened in Japan: the very devastating Tsunami. Below are some of the footages I was able to see in youtube. I just hope it's not as bad as it should. Below are the facts about the "2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami".
The 2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami (Tōhoku Chihō Taiheiyō-oki Jishin", literally "Tōhoku region Pacific Ocean offshore earthquake") was an 8.8 to 9.1-MW megathrust earthquake at 05:46 UTC on March 11 2011. The Sendai earthquake's focus was 130 kilometres off the east coast of the Oshika Peninsula, Tōhoku at a depth of 24.4 kilometers or 15.2 miles. It was locally measured at the maximum possible 7 on the Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity scale in the northern Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
In this video, closed-up takes of carried away cars, buildings uprooted and carried by the water and how the ships and boats were affected. The person walking with and pushing the bike/moto @34 seconds, where no water was passing by was very lucky! I hope nothing bad happened to him/her till the end.
The earthquake triggered tsunami warnings and evacuations for Japan's Pacific coast and at least 20 countries, including the entire Pacific coast of North and South America from Alaska to Chile. The earthquake created tsunami waves of up to 10 meters (33 ft) that struck Japan whose related videos are here to be seen.
Earthquake drills are a set in Japan for their own safety. Daily, average of 3 earthquakes occur. Buildings are constructed to be able to resist earthquakes too. I hope all these did help the affected population with the latest major eathquake with tsunami attack.
Around 4.4 million households in northeastern Japan were left without electricity and more than a million households without water. Many electrical generators were taken down, and at least two nuclear reactors were damaged, which prompted evacuations of the affected areas. The earthquake caused widespread damage to roads and railways within Japan and led to major fires.
Look at how and what cars are reduced to! They just look like toy cars floating around like it's themost normal thing. Take note that the water flow in this video is already calmer, the force has been reduced already, yet, it did not reduce the devastating effect the tsunami had.... and the big truck around the end end of the video! Jeeeez! What a disaster. Let's hope for the best despite all these...
Earlier news reports indicate that more than 503 people have died and 784 are missing in six different prefectures. I hope this will be the casualties but itlooks actually worse than this in the videos. I just hope it can't bemore than this number. The estimates of its magnitude would make it the largest earthquake to hit Japan and one of the five largest earthquakes in the world since modern record-keeping beganIt is thought to have been the largest earthquake within the boundaries of the North American and Pacific tectonic plates in the past 1,200 years.
Testimony of the earthquake from someone who's into drugs I think!
